Welcome to the Potentia blog! This is a space where the Potentia team will share our thoughts on things that we see that will impact the Australian and New Zealand tech sector. Some of the posts will be our thoughts on trends that we see, some will be reactions to publications that we read, and from time to time we’re likely to post a podcast of video discussion between ourselves and other people to broaden this voice.

Some time ago Marc Andreessen made the observation that “software is eating the world”. I was talking to the CEO of an airline recently who shared with me that they employ more software engineers today to build and maintain their digital capabilities than they do mechanical engineers to keep their planes safely in the air.

We’ve seen technology drive productivity improvements across all sectors in the economy, we’ve seen it create new solutions to old problems … and new ones.

As passionate believers in the transformative power of technology, all Potentia team members believe in Marc’s statement. Potentia has been created to invest behind this vision. Collectively we’ve spent decades working in and financing tech companies (predominantly B2B software) and we love it. We’ve seen technology drive productivity improvements across all sectors in the economy, we’ve seen it create new solutions to old problems … and new ones.
